About

Dionne Weeks
GradCert, FdSc, MNCPS (acc.)

As a calm and compassionate person-centred counsellor, I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. Working in an integrative way means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches when helpful, always keeping you at the centre of the process. My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply, develop greater self-compassion, and find clarity in areas of life that may feel confusing or overwhelming. Therapy can support you in managing stress, anxiety, low mood, and feelings of low self-worth, while helping you build confidence and move toward a more balanced way of living.

Person-Centred Counselling

Person-centred counselling is rooted in the belief, expressed by Carl Rogers, that “the client has within themselves vast resources for self-understanding and for altering their self-concept.” My role is to walk alongside you with empathy, presence, and genuine care, offering a space where you can be your authentic self and feel truly heard. Together, we can explore past experiences that may still be affecting you, easing feelings such as guilt, shame, fear, or confusion. Over time, this process can help you reconnect with your strengths, develop greater self-compassion, and move toward healing in your own way and your own time. Whether you are navigating grief, adjusting to a major life change, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to support you with warmth, calm, and understanding.

Supporting You With Grief and Loss

I have a special interest in grief and loss, having had much personal experience of this in my own life. As such, I am aware how it can touch our lives in many forms. While bereavement is often the most recognised, loss can also arise from divorce or separation, changes in health, redundancy, the “empty nest” stage, or the loss of identity, routine, or future hopes. These experiences can stir up powerful emotions that may feel overwhelming or difficult to name. As the saying goes, “Grief is the price we pay for love,” and that price can show up in many different areas of life. Another gentle truth many people find comfort in is the idea that “grief is not something you get over, it’s something you learn to carry.” In counselling, we can explore these feelings together, helping you make sense of your experience and find steadier ground.

Supporting You on Your Post-Cancer Treatment Journey

In my counselling work, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many people as they try to make sense of the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis and the often‑unexpected feelings that surface after treatment ends. This stage is so frequently overlooked, yet it can be a time when fear, loss, and uncertainty feel especially heavy. I’m deeply committed to offering a space where those experiences can be spoken about openly and held with care, because having support during this period can make a meaningful difference to someone’s emotional wellbeing.

Qualifications, Experience and Memberships

I have worked in a variety of roles, all centred around caring for and supporting people, and helping them feel comfortable, welcomed, and at ease. I bring a calm, warm, and friendly presence, and I aim to create a relaxed, supportive space where you can feel safe to be yourself. My approach is collaborative and non-judgemental, and I believe it’s important that you feel heard, understood, and respected at all times.

I am passionate about offering a confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, without fear of judgement. I am down to earth, understanding, and supportive, and I work with compassion shaped by both professional experience and my own lived experiences of trauma, grief, and loss. I have worked in private practice, voluntary organisations, and within NHS mental health services, and I bring this broad experience into my work to support you gently and at your own pace.
